and Lars was dead, even if only for a few minutes. His body was still warm beside hers in the bed, but his breathing had stopped after an opaque sigh which was probably part of the normal process of dying, but could also have been relief. Badger couldn’t tell, she didn’t have enough experience with endings yet.

She scooted upwards to sit cross-legged, Indian style. After all is said and done, she was the only one left who knew the whole story. Now, it is hers, inherited by virtue of having continued breathing longer than all the others. “What to do, what to do?” she smiled slightly. “I could edit out the parts of it that offended me and some of you would be exposed for the disgusting creatures you were. I could skew the emphasis a bit and we would all glitter like the cheap silver stars that you glued to that stupid Easter egg. Well?” she asked. “Well? What should I do now, Lars?” she looked at the dead body again, before slipping from between the sheets, stripping off her t-shirt and tossing it carelessly over his face on her way to the shower.
